Mental Health First Aid

About Course
Around 25 per cent of the UK population will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives. Most are mild, tend to be short-term, and are usually treated successfully with therapy and medication.
Despite this, mental health issues remain a significant problem. Mental Health First Aid teaches participants how to notice and support individuals who may be experiencing mental health issues or exhibiting signs of substance use in a work environment. Participants also learn how to connect those people with appropriate help from fellow employees, community resources, or healthcare professionals.
The course introduces the subject and outlines the benefits of Mental Health First Aid and workplace wellness schemes. It then delves into the effects of stress on individuals and teams, discussing the link between stress and mental health.
The course also covers the roles of employers, managers, and employees in ensuring the success of a Mental Health First Aid programme. It concludes with a series of practical examples demonstrating how to apply Mental Health First Aid to real situations, support employees experiencing mental health issues, and direct them to further help and advice.
